When you are
running a website as a means to promote your business, one thing that will be
important is that you are able to target specific keywords that you want people
to search in order to end up on your website. There are a number of different
ways to go about doing this, but in addition to targeting these keywords
through the content of your website itself (which is the thing most people
think of when it comes to keywords), you will also want to target your keywords
through the meta tags on your site!
Meta tags are
typically the things on your site that are not visible to your visitors, but
that are visible to search engines. When you know what these areas are - and
when you are able to use them to your advantage - you will essentially have the
opportunity to "tell" search engines exactly what your site contains,
which will go a long way in raising you higher in search engine rankings than
sites that are failing to do this.
One issue with
tags, however, is the fact that there are a lot of different places on your
website where you can put tags - and it is sometimes difficult to remember what
all these places are, or to know whether or not you are doing as good of a job
as you should in all these places. The good news, however, is that there is a
simple solution!
