Setting up your site for search engine optimization can take quite a bit of effort. This is especially the case if you already have had your site up and running for several years, and have only recently undertaken the immense task of transforming the entire history of your site with search engine optimization in mind. One side-effect of all the work SEO can take, however, is that a lot of people end up leaving their site alone after they have put in this work - as if this SEO work they have done is the end of the story. It is important to realize, however, that SEO is not a one-shot process!
Search engines are constantly changing. Because of the fact that SEO
experts are constantly coming up with new ways to manipulate search engines,
they are pretty much forced to constantly change - always looking for the
"most perfect formula" for accurately ranking sites. Because of this,
you must constantly change along with search engines, or your site will fall
far behind!
Furthermore, search engines will visit a site more often than others if
this site is adding content more often than others, whereas they will visit a
site less often if it is adding content less often. What does this mean for
you? Quite simply, it means you need to add fresh content all the time!
If you are serious about making money through search engine optimization
(and considering the money to be made through SEO, you might as well be serious
about it!), you will need to realize that SEO is not a one-shot process. Spend
a little bit of time each day (even if only about 15 or 20 minutes) studying up
on the principles of search engine optimization - searching specifically for
any recent developments - and also turn your focus each day on doing at least
one new thing to help your website. In this way, you will be able to keep up
with search engines - and will be able to keep your site on top of search
engine rankings as a result!
